Uthe Hearing Aid & Audiology Centers, LLC is an independent practice owned and operated by Dr. Leah Uthe. Dr. Uthe acquired the practice in 2020. She has upheld the practice’s core values which are rooted in compassionate, patient-centered medical solutions and a trustworthy continuum of care.

Dr. Leah Uthe
Owner/Audiologist
Dr. Leah Uthe, Au.D., and Owner. Dr. Uthe founded Uthe Audiology on a simple conviction: that people in Des Moines deserve more than a hearing device, they deserve a diagnosis, a plan, and a doctor who knows their name for life. With a professional doctorate in Audiology, she brings full clinical scope to every patient she serves, from comprehensive diagnostic evaluation to long-term hearing health management. Dr. Uthe treats hearing loss as the complex, whole-person condition it is, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Dr. Uthe and her husband are native Iowans and have three children.
Dr. Mary Konneker
Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Mary Konneker, Au.D. Dr. Konneker brings the same doctoral rigor and patient-centered philosophy to every appointment. Her training spans the full spectrum of audiological care — from the diagnostic precision of cochlear assessment to the nuanced science of aural rehabilitation. She is committed to understanding not just what her patients hear, but how hearing shapes the quality of their everyday lives.

Massa Atchison
Patient Care Coordinator
Massa joined the Uthe Hearing Aid & Audiology team with 11 years of experience in the field of hearing healthcare. She is our Patient Care Coordinator, and she manages the day-to-day operations of our offices. Massa’s favorite part about her job is interacting with people. Her goal is to ensure that every person who calls or comes into our office has a positive experience. During her free time, Massa enjoys reading, attending hockey games and spending as much time as she can with her family.
Massa is here to greet you with a smile and a “Good morning or Afternoon!”
Emily Diffley
Patient Care Coordinator
Emily is a compassionate Patient Care Coordinator who joined the team in June 2025. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and brings over a decade of experience in childcare, where she served as both an Assistant Director and Director. Through this work, she developed strong communication and organizational skills while supporting families and building meaningful relationships.
Emily was drawn to hearing healthcare after seeking a career change and wanting to better understand her own hearing journey. Living with hearing loss herself, she connects with patients on a personal level and enjoys helping them feel confident in taking the first step toward better hearing.
Outside of work, Emily loves reading, relaxing with her husband, playing in the yard with her dogs, and being with friends and family.
